Bianca Gismonti and Claudia Castelo Branco form GisBranco, two piano virtuosi in the service of music at its best. The partnership of these two young pianists, building on a solid musical background and technical expertise, is so natural and fluent that it defies an explanation in simple words. Musical symbiosis would not be a proper term to explain the relationship between these artists who play identical instruments with the purpose of reinterpreting the best of popular music. In spite of their classical training, what GisBranco offers is popular music, ‘orchestrated’ for piano—interpretations of works by the best composers of the Brazilian tradition: from Villa-Lobos to Ernesto Nazareth, from Edu Lobo to Egberto Gismonti.
